the pa C D r t fiv years. In addition, all automotive trade journals and publications
will be scrutinized for pertinent articles written within the last five years.
A search will also be made in the Central Engineering library to unearth—
any elated work.
An evaluation of the information developed during this search will
then be made to insure emphasis is placed on the proper parameters during
testing. This information should also reveal the latest testing techniques and
imulation parameters (i, e. , advantages of moving ground plane over
ound board, if any; effects of spinning wheels, vibration effects, etc. ).

Second, an economic and feasibility study will < D o onducted to determine
whether full scale or something less than full scale testing should C T D C o onducted.
Consideration will be given to test article cost, test complexity, tunnel
cost, tunnel availability, and scaling effects. Included in this study will C T D C
an investigation of the proper modeling parameters for engine cooling
ystem and compartment simulation.
Third, it is proposed that a survey of low sp ed wind tunnels be mad 0
to develop candidate facilities. Cost is always a significant parameter in
any program, so all available tunnels will be investigated to insure that
maximum benefits are derived from dollars expended. Availability, particu-
larly with government owned facilities, is often a critical factor. This
will be cleared early in the program. Tunnel operating parameters
(temperature, dynamic pressure, velocity, ) will be listed for each
