2. Model Design:
Existing models will be analyzed to determine the
most suitabl ways of modifying elements fo quick change or segmented
omponents reduce tunnel down time for model configuration changes.
New model design materials and techniques will 43
valuated to determine faster or cheaper construction techniques 0
expedite testing.
Scale models other than 3/8 will be analyzed to allow
0 c n sible crosswind testing in the smaller facilities.
3. Test Phase:
The objective of the test phase is to perform scale
model or full scale testing on basic styling configurations and-m^ke
ubtl o tyling changes during or between test runs to gathe u omparative
test data on primary aerodynamic performance.
Model configurations will be varied by changing external
n omponents (internal in the case of cooling systems) and varying test con
ditions to determine the optimum aerodynamic configuration with a given
basic styling design.
4. Report:
The objective of the report will be to define test con
figurations and note aerodynamic performance differences in a simplified
manner for use by non-technical/per sonnel.
The ep rt will be organized to illustrate in simplified
o
artists concept sketches the test results on various vehicle configurations.
