HUNTSVILLE CIRCUIT RACING TEST OPERATIONS
MARCH, 1970
A . Summary of Accomplishments During March 1970
The Dodge Daytona was tested at the Atlanta Speedway 9-15 March 1970 with
complete instrumentation.
The Dodge was also tested at Talladega 24 - 25 March without instrumentation
and set an official track record.
The Dodge was rebuilt and delivered to the Proving Ground for aerodynamic
tests. An ex-Petty Plymouth was picked up from the proving ound and delivered
to Huntsville where it began rebuild for testing at Talladega.
A secondary instrumentation system was prepared and installed in a Trans Am
Barracuda for testing at Riverside.
The engineering model pit to driver radio system was utilized successfully by
race car team at Rockingham and Atlanta.

The Dodge car 096 was prepared and tested at Atlanta 9 - 15 March 1970.
Over 600 test miles were recorded in tests of suspension, air intakes tires and
overall systems development.
The Dodge was then completely rebuilt and all instrumentation removed
for high speed runs at Talladega 24 and 25 March 1970.
Following a successful series of record runs. 24 March, the windows were
removed to determine speed loss under the new NASCAR ruling.
The Dodge was then modified for aerodynamic testin at Chelsea and
delivered to the Proving Grounds on 27 March.
A Plymouth was picked up at the Proving Ground and returned to Huntsville
to begin preparation for tests at Talladega.
