obtained . The writer then walked down the assembly line and observed
the various torquing operations and obtained manufacturing model
numbers of typical pneumatic torque wrenches being used.
A copy of a brochure from D. G. Mountz Association, Inc. , describ
ing a torque wrench calibration device using a strain gage principal was
obtained.
The writer returned to Highland Park for another meeting with Fluid
Mechanics Laboratory personnel, Mr. Deaty and Mr. Marcell, regarding
the proposed aerodynamic test program. Mr. T. Bush, from styling engi
neering, joined us to discuss styling trends and shapes to be tested.
After considerable discussion, it was agreed that we could not
define the number of component configurations and shapes at this time. This
information should fall out to a certain extent from our study phase and
discussions between styling and engineering. We agreed to concentrate on
shapes of the following in order of priority and importance:
1. Front End Assembly
bumper
grill
headlamps
hood leading edge
fenders leading edg
2. Green House
windshield
side windows
rear windows
roof line
