8) The ’’State of the Art” of'wind tunnel blockage correc
                              tions has not been developed to a high degree for blunt
                              bodies on a ground plane.

                          In limited recent competition, the effects of the aerodynamics of

                    the Charger Daytona have been clearly established. In September, the

                    Daytona set a new O fficial world’ n losed lap speed record of 199.996

                   MPH at Talledega, Alabama, during qualifying for the ’’Talledega 500”;

                   unofficially, lap ■ 'n peeds of over 200 MPH were recorded. At the two

                    high speed races since the introduction of the Daytona, the ‘'Talledega

                    500” and the ’’Texas 500”, the Daytona has been the winning car.

                         Although by no means an optimum aerodynamic ground vehic the

                    Daytona represents a significant aerodynamic improvement over all othe s - .

                    present production America automobiles. The aerodynamic knowledge

                    gained on the race track has the long range potential of benefiting

                    production vehicles in the areas of improved fuel O J conomy, handling in

                    corners, gusts and crosswinds, and acceleration. In fact, looking at

                   even broader applications, all high speed land-borne transportation sys

                    tems could benefit from aerodynamic information acquired from cars such

                   as the Daytona.
