MONTHLY REPORT - AUGUST 1970
A. Summary
Plymouth Test Car 097 began preparation for 6 liter engine testing at Daytona
initially planned for 9-13 September.
Two drag car tests were supported with instrumentation and data recording
system.
1. Test Support - Grand National Cars
No track tests were run during August. The Plymouth began preparation
for expected 6 liter engine tests at Daytona in September.
The Plymouth was modified with the following new systems or components
installed:
a. Dual engine oil coolers with air ducted from below nose cone break
line ahead of spoiler.
b. Foamed urethane insulation under floor pan and ahead of torque box
inside car.
Co A dual Freon 113 fire extinguishing system wa installed in the

driver area and engine compartment area.

d. The modified Bostrom torsion bar seat was calibrated and fitted for
possible testing at Daytona.
e. Brackets were prepared for dual automatic transmission oil cooler 03
on right side with air ducted below nose cone break line ahead of
spoiler.
Car No. 046 was partially assembled and loaded on Nickels Engineering
truck with Daytona sheet metal (less wing) and mechanical pieces (less
engine) for rebuild at Nickels Engineering.
Two spare windshields for Car No. 374 were sent to Nickels Engineering.
