The manufacturer reports development of an additive (aluminum
chips) which reduces thermal conductivity of existing material to one fourth of
present value.
The fire resistant additive is still not available to our source.
B. Plans for May, 1970
1. Test Operations
a. The Plymouth test car 097 will be prepared for engine tests at
Daytona 11-15 May 1970.
b. The Dodge test car will remain at Nickels Engineering and be pre
pared there for tests at Jackson, Michigan, Speedway, 26 - 29 May 1970.
c. Car 047 (former 1968 Charger 500) will be delivered to Nickels
Engineering for rebuild to a Proving Ground brake test vehicle.
2. Instrumentation and Electronics Support
a. Grand National Cai
The Plymouth test car will be instrumented for tests at Daytona with
the following measurements:
Propellor Shaft T orque
Engine RPM
Manifold Pressur o
Suspension Displacement (4 wheels)
Yaw
Steering Wheel Position
Carburetor Air Pressure
Oil Cooler (in and out) temperature
Water Temperature
Oil Pressure
Acceleration (3 axis)
The Dodge test car will be instrumented with the following measure
ments for the Jackson tests:
Engine Torque
Suspension Displacement (4 wheels)
Engine RPM
Yaw
Acceleration (3 axis)
Steering Wheel Position
Carburetor Air Pressure
