Competition Control Center Mobile Van Communications System
The attached IPA represents the additional costs to expand the race car
driver to pit crew communications system to include the mobile control center and
three additional pit areas (making a total of four links from mobile control center
to pits and one pit to one car link).
The system is designed to allow the mobile control center to act as the
central control. The control center can monitor (receive) all cars and pits
simultaneously but can transmit only to pits (the system can be modified if desired
to transmit to cars). The pit receivers are tone controlled so that each pit re
ceives only the transmission directed to an individual pit. Similarly the cars
receive only the transmission from that car's pit.
All transmitters and receivers will be equipped with a 25 tone combination
scrambler. The scrambler code can be selectively changed from event to event as
per the unit supplied and can be modified easily to allow special scrambling com
binations.
This system with the dual frequency allocation provides the maximum
security and driver safety believed available commercially at moderate cost.
This IPA work scope includes procurement of necessary hardware and
interface electronics to equip three pit areas and a control center with a communi
cations network, assemble, install, and check out the equipment and brief operating
personnel.
The system can be expanded to include 25 pits and 25 cars within the dual
frequency requested.
