review. I suggested that we should consider a multiphased program on a level of effort
basis since the details are so vague at this time.
Later the writer met with Messrs. L. Rathgeb and G. Wallace to discuss the
tape recorder testing program planned November 25-29 at Daytona Speedway. The
Race Group is preparing attest mounting platform for installation in the 1969 Charger
500 race car to allow easy installation of the different recorders. Several recorders
(Ampex, Sony, Lockheed, and Kinelogic) are being evaluated for testing in the car
during this test series.

The writer visited Mr. R. Clements to review progress and costs on a pro
posed telemetry system for the proving ground. Mr. Clements is very interested and
asked that we summarize findings to date in a memo. The concept was reviewed briefly
with Mr. Clifford also.
Thursday afternoon the writer met with Mr. R. Smith in the Advanced Engineering
Section and reviewed their concepts for rapid heat. Mr. Smith suggested that if CHO is
interested in high volume items to manufacture we should consider air conditioning control
valves, sensors, etc., since these are all vendor items. He also mentioned the impact
inflatable air bag system as a possibility for our manufacture if we are i ntereste
