Monday the writer remained in Detroit and contacted Messrs. P. D. Marriner,
P. R. Juk, and B. Knotek. I discussed with Mr. Marriner some of the work done at
Huntsville by Mr. G. Martin’s people on expandable shelters and possible pickup or
camper applications. Mr. Marriner felt that Dodge Truck would not be too interested
in this market and suggested the Boat Division as p contact. The possibility of aero
dynamic work was also discussed and the urgency of our CHO requirement for aero
dynamic work was mentioned. Mr. Marriner felt that there was definitely interest
in aerodynamic work on trucks specifically the 1974 heavy duty models which will
undergo styling concept designs by early 1970 and the timing is right to begin aero
dynamic work now. Engineering (Mr. Butts and Company) is sold on the need, but
they don’t know if money can be obtained for such an effort. He will follow up and
try to obtain some kind of commitment on their partf
