Several possible methods of making yaw angle measurements have been

                 reviewed with instrumentation personnel (H. Miller) and include:


                                1.    Aircraft type directional gyro with movie coverage to gyro read­

                                      out and background track position reference.

                               2.     Aircraft magnetic compass error signal with position reference.


                               3.     X-Y accelerometer with position reference.

                         These three methods would use the same basic technique of driving test car


                 around at zero slip angle (slow speed) and observing direction plus track position

                 reference. The race car would then be driven at competition speeds and comparative


                 data taken which would then result in yaw angle data.

                         The above techniques were reviewed with Mr. G. Wallace of Race Car Per­

                 formance Group with favorable reaction.


                         If this proves to be a reasonable technique, I will attempt to obtain funds to

                 build up test and prototype units at Huntsville.
