in reproducing vortex flow with a computer (i. e., Scientific American article
some two years ago which I passed to you), Mr. Deady visualizes a designer
sitting in front of a computer with light pen in hand, where any line in the
car shape can be altered and the computer will then immediately predict
the change in car performance (drag, stability, etc. ). Of course, something
like this is a very big undertaking and would require much time and manpower
As I see it, if he pushes this idea, which he has to some extent, and is able
to convince his upper management of its merits and feasibility, then he will
not need our services, since he will build this capability in-house. However,
if it doesn't go and things remain status quo, then he wants Huntsville to
assume the aerodynamic support load and function as required by the race
people or others.
Back to the immediate program, claying of the underbody is complete
and will be cast for a mold today. Claying of the Charger body is 95 percent
complete and should go to the plastic shop for molding tomorrow. The
program is essentially on schedule at this point, and no particular problems
are foreseen.
