H. Bader, Jr. -2- February 13, 1968

After lunch we met with the following personnel in the Fluid
                    Mechanics Laboratory:

                                               Mr. M. W. Dawley
                                               Mr. F. Deaty
                                               Mr. R. Marcell

John Vaughn summarized Chrysler Huntsville1 & experience in
wind tunnel testing and theoretical aerodynamics. S everal reports
and proposals were passed out which reflected our g eneral capabilities.

It appears that Mr. Dawley is mildly interested in obtaining
assistance from Huntsville. He has a manpower and funding problem
with the manpower the predominant problem. Material dollars are
available periodically which he can spend on services. We can assist
him through sub-contracting if he can define a required job suitable fo
Huntsville and can sell his management.

To assist in defining the job and selling to management, it was
suggested that a CHO proposal be drafted which will outline scale model
wind tunnel testing to be performed by CHO. This testing will be gen
eralized and parametric by design and will provide inputs to a simplified
aerodynamic handbook which will be used to guide stylist in shaping new
model forms. A rough draft of the proposed work scope will be prepared
and discussed with Mr. Dawley before formal proposal submittal.

I asked Mr. Dawley about the specifications for assembly line
checkout equipment for air conditioned cars. Mr. Dawley said that the
specifications may change based on present work being done at the Los
Angeles Plant. He would refer the problem to Mr. Pat Mclntee.

The problem of rapid heat or reducing heater warm-up time was
discussed briefly with Mr. Deaty. They are attempting to obtain 100°F
air from the heater from an ambient temperature of -10°F in one and
one-half minutes. They require a device adaptable to the present system
and would prefer to operate it off of the exhaust heat. New ideas or
                    approaches are welcomed.
