            ENGINE COOLING'-’J WIND TUNNEL SPECIFICATIONS
  ' CUOJECTi

               Reference: Letter from J. P. Lindsay to A. D. Bosley of 6-12-t67> 1968
Capital Plan: Chassis Dynamometer Wind Tunnel.

The following specifications represent a best estimate of the require
ments for the Engine Cooling Wind Tunnel. They are open for discussion
should it be felt that some adjustments would permit improved performance
               or cost reduction.

The specifications for the Engine Cooling Wind Tunnel are covered under
               the following categories:

                          Air Flow Requirements
                      H
                          Test Chamber
                           Instrumentation for Test Car
                          Auxiliary Facilities
                          Safety.

                 H Air Flow Requirements
                                                                             e
Air Speed Range - 0 to 120 Mph.

Adjustability - Infinite adjustability over the entire air speed
                          range with fine adjustment.

Accuracy of Measurement - +1% of reading.

Indication of Reading - +1^ of reading.

Air Speed Measurement - This measurement can be made using a series
of pitot tubes (static and impact). They must be properly located
in the duct to give accurate air speed measurement. Another pitot
tube is'heeded-uridettthe uoil.pan and above the floor.

Air Speed Distribution +1% variation in speed across the duct between
20 and 120 Mph. There should be no vortex in the air as it enters
                          the entrance duct.
