Px^oposed E^R/W Wind...Tunnel,Tests

Outlined below are three wind tunnel test programs proposed for ’*EW Series
B-Body race vehicles* The estimated material cost and man hour requirements of
Department 3860 are detailed along with a brief description of the tests
that would be conducted under each program*

At least 6 weeks of tunnel time will be involved in which the 1st 2 weeks
will be utilized in ground plan& adjustments, securing basic drag ratings
and setting up instrumentation on each lof the three models* The third
week will, be needed to make blockage correction studies needed as a basis
for better interpretation of yawed .model performance in terms of road
behavioro The remaining 3 weeks will be used for various model
changes and the determination of the performance factors associated with
them- It is anticipated that these tests will be conducted during July
and August with a test report to follow in Septembero The list of things
to be considered includes:

spoilers - reax- deck, front undex*body5 etc*
front end modifications
greenhouse and roof mod x fications
vehicle attitude
wheel house opening J (X
surface pressures
etc*

Equipment Required; 1* (1J base test model ■■•ith interchangeable EM23,.
EW-23 and Bk-29 front ends and greenhouses
